Nicholson Portnell offers professional advice and support if you are going through separation or divorce. We adhere to the Resolution code of practice which aims to resolve issues by taking into account the needs of the whole family and in particular the needs of any children. We can advise you on all issues involving children, divorce proceedings and financial matters. We can also prepare cohabitation and pre-nuptial agreements tailored to your particular needs.

Unfortunately, we do not offer services under the Legal Aid scheme, but the type of assistance you require may not be available under the scheme in any event, as the scope of Legal Aid in matrimonial/family disputes is now very limited. Whether Legal Aid might available to pay for the cost of your case, and if so we can supply you with details of firms in this region offering a Legal Aid service.

We will do all we can to help you reach a fair and just outcome as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. While we have extensive expertise in dealing with matters through the courts we will only use that approach as a last resort, after exhausting all alternative strategies that may be less confrontational and more cost-effective.
